Silvercrest Signs commissioned to design two new historic building facades.

December 1, 2007:

Ogden real estate investment company 2432 Washington Blvd LLC has purchased the building currently housing the Bookshelf on Washington Blvd. It plans a complete remodel including removing the current storefronts to expose the original architecture.  Silvercrest Signs has been selected to design a new facade and architectual elements.  Once approved Silvercrest will begin the construction and installation.

Star Noodle LLC also has similar plans for the Star Noodle Parlor building on Historic 25th street.  The historic dragon sign will be retained as per city ordinance.  The building's current facade will be removed. Due to the lack of the original masonry on the front, Silvercrest will design and build an entirely new look while still keeping within the historic nature of the street.

Silvercrest is pleased and honored to have a part in the development of these two buildings.

March 1, 2008:

Initial concept designs have been submitted for approval by the owners and by the Ogden City Landmarks Commission.  City officials recommend removing existing exterior in order to see better what is still there of the original buildings.  Removal is pending approval.  Silvercrest is on standby until the exterior removal work is done.

April 27, 2008:

Last week the original architecture of the 2432 Washington Blvd. building was finally revealed after having been concealed for decades.  As you can see from the photo, there were some surprises.  Some of the details of the building have been damaged.  Two of the upper arched windows have been bricked up at the top of the arch.  The transom windows at the bottom have be modified over the years.  For the most part the building remains largely intact and usable.  Even with the few unfortunate problems, the building has much promise.  With some work and time this building will stand proud just like when it was new.

2432 Unmasked

June 13, 2008:

Today we removed the historic Star Noodle Parlor Sign.  This sign has been a fixure of 25th street for decades.  The sign was originally made by Yesco and is a beautiful example of creativity and craftsmanship.  The neon is especially stunning even in it's current state of disrepair.  Silvercrest has been given the honor of refurbishing the historic sign. Once the sign has be brought back to "good as new" condition it will be placed back on the newly refurbished building complete with it's new facade.  Silvercrest will completely remove all of the existing neon.  Much of the neon has been broken and will need to be replaced.  The sign has been painted at least a few times so we will strip it and redo the paint.  The removal went very well except for having to deal with the decades worth of filth and pigeon carcasses that are entombed inside.  (Click thumbnails for larger image)

 June 27, 2008:

This week some major progress was made on the Star Noodle building, which is actually not one building but two.  The Star Noodle storefront was removed and reveled beneath were the two buildings.  The building on the east has a masonry front with much of the details still intact.  One of the features is a brick pattern at the top made from "Clinker" bricks of a yellowish color.  The building on the east is mostly just a wood framed wall.  We will only be doing a few architectual details to the east building but as planned we will be doing an entirely new facade on the west building. New drawings are in the works right now to present to Ogden City Landmarks Commision.

New Pictures of the buildings will be added soon...check back!
